Five suspects are expected to appear at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after 100 rhino horns were seized by the North West police in Klerksdorp.
Three of the suspects were found in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition that was kept on a farm in the Klerksdorp area.
Four unlicensed firearms, a hunting rifle, a shotgun, a special revolver as well as a pistol together with a number of empty cartridges were discovered by police.
The police also confiscated what appeared to be a tiger skin.
Two more suspects were arrested in the Hartbeesfontein area, in possession of illegal firearms which include a rifle, one hunting rifle, one pistol, one revolver as well as 708 rounds of ammunition.
US dollars to the value of R45 900 and four tiger carcasses were also found in their possession.
