Reading Time: < 1 minute

Five people arrested in connection with the petrol bomb attack in which six people were killed on a bus carrying mine workers from Driekop near Burgersfort in Limpopo are expected to apply for bail in the Mecklenburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

The suspects are facing charges of murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

The suspects allegedly attacked a bus carrying 52 mine workers to the Modikwa platinum mine, when they boarded it under false pretences.

At their previous appearance, their bail application was postponed as their legal aid board lawyer wanted to study the case following the withdrawal of another lawyer.

The suspects come from several villages around Driekop and are still in custody.
