Cape Town is hosting the First African Rail Digital Summit at Crystal Towers Hotel in Century City. The conference is aimed at, among others, developing research and innovation as the world is moving towards the 4th industrial revolution.
Deputy Minister of Transport Sindi Chikunga was expected to speak at the event but cancelled. CEO of the World Association of Railway Operators, Jean-Pierre Loubinoux says they are encouraging rail systems to go digital.
“Don’t be afraid of digital , digital is a real opportunity. Be aware of the risk taken them into account anticipate but go for it and digital will really be an enabler to improve the management of capacity which is the key issue of railway and the world of the management of assets and security.”
We strongly supports #digitalization in #Rail via its various projects & vision. This is the way to respond to the need for development of #mobility (passengers & freight) on African continent – Adama Deen, AUDA-NEPAD PIDA. pic.twitter.com/dJp7VVMDh2
