Finding a replacement for outgoing Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille ranked high on the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Federal Executive meeting on Saturday.
It’s the first gathering of the FedEx since De Lille announced her resignation.
The DA then dropped all charges against the feisty mayor.
DA’s spokesperson Solly Malatsi says: “The Federal executive has decided that as of the 20th of August the process for nominations will be open so anyone who has an interest in applying for the job will have the right to apply for that. And subsequent to that there will be process in terms of shortlisting selection panel set up in terms of interviewing the individuals… At the end of September a candidate that emerges out of that process so that there is also enough time for a smooth transition because what we don’t want to have a vacuum that will then disrupt service delivery in the city.”
