The Freedom Front Plus says it’s the only party that can cater for minority groups. The party’s leader Pieter Groenewald says he’s confident that his party’s performance will improve in the forthcoming elections.

He was on a campaign trail in Heidedal, Bloemfontein, where he interacted with the Coloured community.

“When it comes to minority groups, the government and other political parties don’t care about minority groups. And that’s why we say, we are standing up in Parliament for the minority groups. And we say that we need equal treatment, especially with you. Service delivery is very poor.”

The community of Heidedal in Bloemfontein has appealed for equal treatment in the delivery of basic services such as water and electricity.

The predominantly Coloured community has pleaded with the leader of the Freedom Front Plus to bring change to the area.

The community complained about a lack of services including housing and sanitation. It says since 1994, it has not seen development in the area. But political parties promise better services ahead of elections.

One resident says, “DA promises agency promises but nothing happens look at the 1st look at the trains nothing is happening. The children don’t get jobs, they go into drugs.”

“The affirmative action is a reverse apartheid that needs to stop because it was supposed to be ten years but now it is twenty five years. It simply says it is against brown people, because we are being discriminated. When it comes to work we don’t get jobs,” argues another.

The residents say hundred houses were allocated to be built in Heidedal, but still they are waiting. “Our lives are falling apart,” says a member of community.
