The European Union (EU) says it’s committed to helping African states deal with the root causes of migration.

Sceptics have spoken out against the huge inflow of African migrants into Europe.

The EU’s biggest economy, Germany, has invested billions as an incentive to curb migration.

Vice President of the Pan African Parliament, Bernadette Lahai has stressed the importance of co-operation between the EU and African states in addressing the impact of migration.

“Both the Europeans and Africa have to look at advantages and disadvantages of migration. From Africa we have been able to estimate the remittances of migrants are very high. We are encouraging the return of our migrants to come back and share the capacities that they have built.”
