Erasmus praises Boks for demolishing Italy

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has praised his team following their 49-3 demolition of Italy at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan on Friday.

The Springboks scored seven tries in their bonus point win, taking them to the top of Pool B, for now.

New Zealand is likely to leapfrog them after their match against Namibia on Sunday.

Erasmus was particularly pleased with the aggression and physicality the players showed.

“Oh no, it definitely wasn’t perfect you know. I think one of the things we tried to do today (Friday) with the 6-2 split forwards versus backs, was to get that really physical performance out there. I think tactically and technically there were mistakes and errors, but I think the way the guys physically pitched was what we wanted to get out of this game. I think if we as South Africans want to go all the way, that’s definitely what we need in our game,” says Erasmus.
