Erasmus and Vilakazi in AFCON squad

Bafana Bafana coach, Stuart Baxter, has named a preliminary squad that will play in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt next month.

Most of the players were part of the team that played against Libya in the last match of the qualifiers in March.

Cape Town City’s Kermit Erasmus and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Sibusiso Vilakazi have been recalled into the national team.

Baxter says that he is still profiling his current squad.

“Benni I thought he has done a good job with Kermit. Putting his arm around him, making him feel important again and bringing him back into the fore again. I couldn’t guarantee him a place in Bafana. I think he understands the situation now, I think he worked hard during the season. We’ve got a nice combination of Lebo Mothiba and Percy Tau. What we are looking at is profiling our players.  Kermit can play a nine or as a shadow striker like Lebo Maboe and Lars Varwyk is also there as a nine. We do have others.”
