South Africa controlled the run-rate and restricted England to 224 for the loss of four wickets on day one of the third cricket test at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. After a slow morning, the Proteas had the visitors in trouble on 148 for four just after tea.
Danger man Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope steadied the ship and will continue with their partnership on Friday. Stokes is on 38 and Pope on 39.
Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada picked up two of the four wickets, while left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj bowled 30 overs and took one for 54. The series is level at one-all.
