Work-related stress remains the biggest health concern for South African professionals, this according to the 2017 Profmed Stress Index.

The CEO, Graham Anderson says the majority of respondents were between the ages of 25-34.

Ten point zero nine percent of respondents that were included in the index indicated that they have taken time off from work due to stress-related illnesses over the past six months; this is a slight increase from the previous year’s rating of 9.7%.

Anderson says people should deal with stress as it may lead to illnesses such as cancer.

“One of the ways of dealing with stress is exercising and taking a break from work. People should take a holiday once a year and those who work 14-15 hours a day and weekends should at least take weekends off once a quarter.”
