In the Overberg region of the Western Cape voting got off to a good start. Two of the five voting stations in Zwelihle near Hermanus opened late due to faulty scanning devices.

There’s been a steady flow of voters in Hermanus and Grabouw. However, some residents expressed excitement for voting and said that it is important to vote.

Further afield in Grabouw, all 23 voting stations were in full swing. This small hall catered for people on five farms. 800 registered voters were expected.

The Overberg region has more than 150 000 registered voters.
