In the 2019 elections, the MF will be contesting nationally and in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
The party was founded on 1 November 1993 by Amichand Rajbansi, who led it until his death in December 2011. The Minority Front is currently led by Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi.

It managed to win several seats in the National Assembly over the years.
However, 2014 was not a good year for the party as it won no seats.
