The Telkom and IEC technical partnership around Elections 2019 will see results from voting stations around South Africa travel almost 46 000 kilometres across a network of fibre cables and satellite solutions to the IEC Results Operation Centre in Tshwane.

Telkom Head of Group Communications Mooketsi Mocumi confirmed the company has put in place high level security and verification processes to ensure the data is secure. The network includes a mixture of fibre and satellite to fibre systems.

An IEC spokesperson indicated the first results from some of the 23000 polling stations are expected to arrive at the ROC by 11pm tonight.
