Eight people accused of the attempted murder of AMCU shop steward Malibongwe Mdazo are  expected to continue their bail application in the Brits Magistrate’s Court near Rustenburg in the North West on Wednesday.

The accused were arrested in December last year and February this year.

The group is also accused of masterminding a string of murders of AMCU members in and around the Marikana area between May and October last year.

A total of 12 people were arrested in connection with attacks linked to rivalry between AMCU and NUM in the Brits and Rustenburg mining area.

According to the NPA, the men conspired to murder Mdazo and his two colleagues who had been voted to lead the AMCU branch.

One of the people on the hit list was Tholakele Dlunga, who was eventually killed in Wonderkop, which falls under the Rustenburg jurisdiction of the NPA.

The matter has been postponed to Wednesday and Thursday for formal bail application of the eight accused.

Two are out on bail, while the other two were released on warning to appear in court on April 26.
