The EFF has distanced itself from the disruptive chaos which led to the premature ending of Friday morning’s SABC election debate that was broadcast on Morning Live on SABC 2 and SABC News Dstv channel 404 from Hangberg in Hout Bay.

The EFF was among 20-political parties that took part in the debate.

EFF Western Cape chairperson Melikhaya Xego says some parties were not happy about the time given to them and they pushed EFF supporters out of the venue in the second part of the programme.

He says some of their members have been injured and that minibus-taxis they were travelling in, were pelted with stones.

“The chairs came where the BLF and Land Party were seated and were thrown at EFF supporters and in rescuing themselves out of the situation they retaliated and is something we condemn, we don’t condone any violence, but we are prepared to engage with those political parties affected including the IEC and other media houses…”
