Reading Time: < 1 minute

Eastern Cape Police Commissioner Liziwe Ntshinga has called on communities not to take the law into their own hands, following a fatal mob attack in Tshatshatsha locality in Engcobo.

It is alleged that on Thursday night a 24 year old man attacked a 63 year old elderly woman and attempted to rape her.

When he attempted to flee the scene, community members searched for him, assaulted him and set him on fire.

Ntshinga strongly condemned the incident and ordered an immediate investigation into those involved.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10 111.
