Two promising cyclists from KwaZakhele township in Port Elizabeth will be heading to Europe in September to make their mark on the cycling scene.

They’ve been invited to take part in a cycling exchange programme which seeks to expose talented youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Simiselo Nelani and Zukhanye Mahashe say they seek to make their community proud when they travel to Belgium and Netherlands.

“I really want to make a name for myself overseas, I had been training hard since I was told and i am very grateful for the opportunity I had been afforded with; I am going to go out there and make my community proud, this is the opportunity I cannot afford to miss, I am grateful for the exchange program.|”

Meanwhile, CEO of Imveli Academy Cyclists, Lukholo Badi says they are trying to bring about change and exposure for their cyclist.

“We want kids to be expose in cycling, we want to change the past and perhaps give the kids an opportunity to showcase their talent overseas, this is what we have been doing or pushing hard when we train, I am sure they are going to enjoy themselves and perhaps learn a lot.”
