The Eastern Cape provincial government is urgently seeking a court order to demolish the controversial Mancoba Seven Angels Church at Ngcobo.

Seven suspects were killed in a shootout with police at the church.

Police were following up on information after the killing of five officers at the Ngcobo Police Station.

Eastern Cape Provincial Hawks Spokesperson Anelisa Feni says more arrests related to the Ngcobo police shooting can be expected.

She’s also confirmed that one of the leaders of the church appeared before the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court .

“The charges that were added is murder … five counts of murder, attempted murder and also robbery with aggravating circumstances. Those are charges that all six-suspect are facing. He is also facing an additional charge which is unlawful possession of a firearm. At this stage, our investigations are continuing even with regards to the Ncgobo killing, not just the trafficking of persons. So, we cannot rule out that there could be more people arrested, but at this stage, these are the six suspects who have been arrested who have appeared in court as well.”
