DUT SRC strikes over NSFAS allowance

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Less than a month after lectures commenced at the Durban University of Technology, the SRC has embarked on another strike.

South African Students Congress (Sasco) Deputy Secretary Noxolo Mahlathana says students have not received their allowances from National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

She says students do not have text books and are therefore unable to study.

“However until now which is three months down the line since our academic lectures commenced, students have not received any of their allowances. Part of the reasons for this delay is said to be the NSFAS strike that happened last month as well and that a lot of details of students were lost in that process.”
