Durban comes alive with Diwali colours

The Durban CBD has come alive with colour and sound as the annual Durban Diwali Festival’s (DDF) float procession gets under way.

The procession will make its way through the city to Marine Parade and towards Old Drive-In site.

Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Light, which marks the triumph of good over evil and will be observed worldwide next weekend. The DDF is seen as a precursor to the celebrations.

“There will be a Diwali float procession taking place. They will be starting from Prince Edward Street between Grey and Albert Streets, then proceed down Grey Street into West street, all the way down Marine Parade, to the old Durban driving site. Motorists are urged to stay away from those routes mentioned. Motorists are urged also to comply with Metro police officials at the inter-sections.”
