The Drakenstein Municipality in the Boland has rolled out the proverbial red carpet to welcome their favourite daughter, recently crowned Miss SA 2018, Tamaryn Green.

A colourful cavalcade was held in the streets of her home town, Paarl East.

Drakenstein mayor Conrad Poole says the town supports her 100%.

“She’s destined to become the next Miss Universe. We united behind one of our own, she is the new builder in South Africa, Paarl is a historical place, she will do us good and proud in the whole of the universe,” says Poole.

Supporters, friends and residents of Paarl East turned up in numbers to welcome home Tamaryn Green. She was standing in a light blue open top Aston Martin as she was driven around as part of a carcade through the streets of her home town. The welcoming procession was led by drum mayorettes from her former school, William Loyd primary. Her admiring fans only had words of praise .

“She’s very beautiful and I’m proud of her. I’m a proud supporter. The community is standing behind her, all the best. You go Tamaryn Green! I think there will be more beautiful young woman and man making Paarl proud.”

The 23-year-old medical student will represent South Africa at the Miss Universe competition.

For Green it was especially heartwarming to see so many people supporting her

“I’m so happy that I’m seeing all my people, I want everyone to have a good time and I love them and I’m going to represent them to the best of my ability.

She also used the opportunity to wish all fathers a Happy Father’s day

“wishing all the dad’s a happy father’s day we appreciate all what you have done for us we love you so much and thank you again”

Green plans to complete her studies at the University of Cape Town next year but for now she will plough all her energy into the best Miss SA she can be.
