Disaster teams deployed ahead of severe weather conditions in KZN

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs says disaster management teams have been placed on high alert in some parts of the province.

This after the South African Weather Service issued a warning for severe thunderstorms over the northern parts of the province.

Weather forecaster Thandiwe Gumede says there’s a 60 percent chance of rain expected on Saturday afternoon.

“There’s a sixty percent chances of showers are expected over KZN for Saturday as well as there’s an alert out for severe thunderstorms over northern parts of KZN which include areas like Ladysmith, Newcastle moving into areas like Vryheid, Nquthu, Msinga and extending over the eastern parts covering areas like Phongolo, Makhathini down into Richards Bay extending into Mandeni.”
