The defence in the assault trial of a self-proclaimed prophet who allegedly sprayed insecticide on congregants has failed to block two witnesses from testifying.
Lethebo Rabalago is being tried for assault and contravening the Remedies and Stock Remedies Act of 1947 at the Naboomspruit Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.
The defence’s Edmond Lubisi says he was only given statements of testimonies by a toxicologist and a representative of the South African Council of Churches on Wednesday morning.
He says this in turn means that they were not given sufficient time to study the testimonies and prepare counter evidence.
Magistrate Frans Mahodi however made a ruling for a short adjournment to enable Lubisi to consult Rabalago on how to approach evidence given by the SACC representative and the toxicologist.
