Embattled Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, says she’s ready to leave the Democratic Alliance (DA) but not before her name has been cleared.

The DA has launched an investigation into De Lille’s conduct following allegations of maladministration in the city council.

The party has also laid charges of bribery and corruption against her at the Cape Town Central Police Station.

This comes after a Gauteng businessman alleged that De Lille tried to solicit a R5 milion bribe from him in 2012.

De Lille has told the SABC that it is clear that the DA does not want her.

“I will leave. I will leave, but I cannot leave with a cloud hanging over my head that I am corrupt. So, I have to clear my name and I will leave if they don’t want me. However, if I leave after all these allegations against me, people will say I’m guilty, and my reputation and my integrity will be at stake.”
