Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille says she remains focused on clearing her name through a disciplinary process initiated by the Democratic Alliance (DA) following allegations of corruption and maladministration.

She says she has received several settlement proposals from the party leadership over the past few weeks, including vacating her current position and taking up a seat in the National Assembly.

De Lille says she has been wrongly accused of a number of serious charges.

In a statement, De Lille says the Steenhuisen Report has found her guilty without a proper hearing or due process. She wants those findings reviewed and set aside in the Western Cape High Court.

She says she has built a reputation as a fighter of corruption and that cannot be tarnished.

De Lille says she is preparing for a disciplinary hearing on a date still to be confirmed.

She wants the matter to be open to the media.

De Lille says she expects to announce her legal team in the new week. She says some DA councillors who voted against a motion of no confidence in her recently have complained of victimisation and intimidation.

Meanwhile, DA Federal Executive Chair James Selfe, has confirmed a meeting with De Lille, but would not elaborate further.

“The DA is involved with discussions with the Mayor of Cape Town and her legal team, but we do not wish to disclose any details of the negotiation at this point.”
