Patricia De Lille has met the deadline to make representations to the DA on why she should not resign as the Mayor of Cape Town. De Lille had a deadline of five o’clock on Friday.

She has been barred from all party activities after a sub-committee of the party’s federal executive found sufficient concerns about the management and governance of the city.

De Lille is accused of planning to discredit a senior manager who questioned alleged tender irregularities. She is also alleged to have asked that a report into a possible 43 million rand loss regarding a tender be made to “go away”.

Chairperson of the DA’s federal Executive, James Selfe, has confirmed that the party’s received De Lille’s representations.

“Those representations will have to be considered by members of the federal executive… And the the federal executive will meet again on 14 Jan to decide what to do about them,” he said.
