De Lille fighting to keep her job

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The future of Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille will top the agenda of the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Federal Executive (Fedex) when it meets on Sunday.

This comes after officials in her department alleged that she covered up the wrongdoing of senior officials and governance problems.

The Fedex has been investigating the in-fighting in the Cape Town caucus as well as the political management and governance of the city.

However, De Lille insists that her submissions regarding the matter are not being considered.

“What is running through my whole submission to the Democratic Alliance is that certain allegations were made against me. I made certain allegations against some other members of the DA. What I am appealing for is a process where these allegations can be tested, because all my responses to these allegations have either been ignored, or have not been considered… and I hope this Sunday, that my responses will be considered – but then start a process whereby we can sit, like we are sitting here now… I can bring further evidence, I can bring witnesses, lets test the allegations.”
