Damning allegations surface at Charlotte Maxeke hospital

The Human Rights Commission says it has received damning information about the state of health care at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg hospital, that contradicts the version given by hospital management.

The Commission says following its oversight visit of the hospital earlier this month, whistle blowers have since come forward with the information.

Last month some staff trashed the hospital over unpaid bonuses.

The Human Rights Commission’s Buang Jones says they will investigate the new allegations.

“The Commission has received information that contradicts the accounts or the version given by the hospital. So we are in the process of collecting all the information received from anonymous sources to ensure that the Department of Health, as well as the hospital management accounts for the situation at the hospitals. And we will also dispatch a letter to them requesting them to respond to these new allegations,” says Jones.
