Reading Time: 2 minutes

Democratic Alliance says it will accept nothing from the ANC National Executive but the removal of President Jacob Zuma. The African National Congress (NEC) is currently meeting in Irene outside Pretoria to decide on Zuma’s fate.

The DA briefed the media on the outcome of the party’s Federal Council meeting over the weekend. Party Leader Mmusi Maimane says the fact that Zuma is putting conditions for his removal, shows his power within the ANC structures.

Maimane says the only outcome the party will welcome is when the ANC leadership announces that Zuma is no more President.

The DA says any attempt to grant President Jacob Zuma amnesty from possible prosecution once he leaves office will be challenged in court.

The party briefed the media in Cape Town today on the outcome of its Federal Council meeting held over the weekend. Party leader Mmusi Maimane says the only outcome the party will welcome is when the ANC leadership announces that Zuma has been recalled and should step down unconditionally.

“We categorically state that we reject any amnesty for Jacob Zuma, as an insult to all South Africans. I would like also to highlight the fact that there can be no other special arrangements that are put.”
