DA to put pressure on finalising Ministerial Handbook

The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will explore the possibility of approaching the court to try put pressure on the finalisation of the Ministerial Handbook.

The Ministerial Handbook is a guideline for benefits and privileges for which members of the executive are entitled to.

The party claims that the Cabinet is bloated and it needs to be trimmed to accommodate the sluggish economy and the growing budget deficit.

“One of the avenues we will be exploring going forward is whether there is any potential for us to litigate on this matter to force it because what you see here very clearly is a reluctance to review the Ministerial Handbook and you can see why there is reluctance, because once it is reviewed all this extravagance will come to an end,” explains the party’s Chief Whip John Steenhuisen.
