The DA will on Wednesday lay corruption charges against State Security Minister Bongani Bongo at the Cape Town police station.
Bongo is alleged to have attempted to bribe evidence leader of the Parliamentary inquiry into allegations of state capture, Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara, to force him to resign.
The Joint Ethics Committee is also expected to investigate the matter.
A number of political parties in Parliament including the ANC say they take the allegations seriously.
Some opposition parties say if they are found to be true, Bongo must be fired as State Security Minister.
