In 2014 the DA won the Western Cape outright, with 59% and 1,2 million votes. According to CSIR predictions, based on the current 39% of voting districts declared, the party is set to clinch a majority once again with a projected 56% of the provincial ballot. This means the DA will not need coalition partners to govern.

The party has however likely lost ground to Patricia de Lille’s Good party, which is expected to gain 3% of the provincial vote. The ANC appears to have lost ground to the EFF.
