Marginalised South Africans and those who feel left out by current politics must use their vote in 2019 to demand change. This according to Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane who spent time interacting with residents and assisting first time voters to register in Kliptown, Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg.
A predominantly coloured community, they say they feel forgotten – not white enough for the previous regime and now not black enough for the current government. Maimane says other political parties want to mobilise on the basis of race but that his is the only party that can offer a truly multiracial South Africa.
“They are already saying that their policies must not only favour black parties or white parties. If we’re going to defend the Constitution of the republic, it defends everybody’s rights and I stand for all South Africans, particularly South Africans that are left behind, and this issue is very personal for me as a South African who is in a home of mixed races, because ultimately this is the beauty of our country. We are a diverse nation and I will defend the rights of all South Africans from all races. “ Click below for more on the story:
