De Lille to challenge Steenhuisen Report findings in court

Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille says she is going to court again to try and force the Democratic Alliance (DA) to provide information needed to challenge the findings of the recent Steenhuisen Report.

The report found De Lille guilty of several allegations made against her, including shutting down the Special Investigation Unit, recent security upgrades at her residence and trying to influence the re-appointment of former City Manager Achmat Ebrahim.

The matter was due to be heard in the city’s High Court on Thursday but was postponed due to the outstanding information. De Lille says attempts to contact DA leader Mmusi Maimane for assistance also failed.

“So now I really put a demand that I do need these documents for the purposes of my case. The one letter written by Councillor JP Smith and another related to an alleged SMS I’ve sent. Without the full record of evidence the Steenhuisen Report can only amount to a collection of baseless anecdotes. “ Click below for more on the story:
