Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille says she will approach the courts to seek recourse after she was stripped of her executive powers by Democratic Alliance (DA) councillors.

The Western Cape High Court earlier ruled that De Lille would remain in her position as executive mayor pending the court sitting next week.

De Lille has warned that the ongoing wrangle with the DA will affect service delivery.

“It is of public record that I have not been found guilty of anything; in fact, it is the courts that have ruled in my favour for three times already; now, if this decision goes through today, it’s going to have a severe impact on service delivery, because Mayco members will have to meet and then if there are no consensus…”
