Cyclist killed in Cape Town Cycle Tour pile up

A cyclist has been killed on the M3 at Constantia Main Road during the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says the 40-year-old man was involved in a multi-cycle pile-up with about 20 other race participants.

About 35 000 cyclists have entered the event.

Traffic officials are maintaining a strong presence on the route and various roads have been closed.

The 109 kilometre route starts at the Grand Parade and ends on Helen Suzman Boulevard in Green Point.
