CRL slams unscrupulous religious leaders

The CRL Rights Commission says there are many more religious leaders running institutions like the Mancoba Seven Angels Ministry.

In its report to parliament, the Commission recommended that there be regulation of the religious sector.

Commission chairperson, Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva says Parliament will have to make decisions.

“We are waiting for parliament to take a decision and hoping this will trigger the fast tracking of the system that will protect everyone including every citizen in this country.”

“There are many religious leaders who are doing all sorts of things all over the country that are not in the best interest of their congregants, not in the best interest of the nation.”

Meanwhile police are reportedly searching for those who escaped during the shoot-out at the Mancoba Seven Angels Ministries Church in Engcobo in the Eastern Cape after killing seven suspects who are alleged to have brutally murdered five policemen and a retired soldier.

The church appears to have been a hideout for the suspected cop killers.

Ten suspects were arrested by police at the church and an unknown number escaped.
