Cricket South Africa and the SABC have announced a joint exclusive partnership for the new 2018 T20 Cricket League.

The partnership gives the SABC exclusive official broadcast rights for the Sub-Saharan region.

The deal is covered by a Memorandum of Understanding that will run for the next three years.

The public broadcaster says the agreement will further allow the SABC to cater to the needs of fans and grow audiences.

The T20 Cricket League will be played between November and December 2018 and will be carried live on SABC 3 and Radio 2000.

Umhlobo Wenene FM will also broadcast some of the matches live.

SABC COO Chris Maroleng says: “We are very fortunate that the agreement that we’ve structured will realise the SABC broadcasting this at a fraction of the cost to broadcast other sports rights of a similar calibre. So in essence what it will also do, it will ensure that we put to the test all of our capabilities in producing top end content.”
