Police and court officials are currently attaching the property of the African National Congress (ANC) deputy chairperson in KwaZulu-Natal Mike Mabuyakhulu‘s property in various parts of the province. This after several corruption charges including a contract of up to R28-million for a jazz festival did not take place.

Mabuyakhulu who is the former KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, has already appeared in court at least twice for alleged corruption and money laundering. He is charged along with seven businessmen and women from the province.

He appeared in the Durban Commercial Crime Court in August last year with seven co-accused on charges related to fraud, corruption and money laundering. The homes of the seven other co-accused are also being raided simultaneously.

Mabuyakhulu’s political career is uncertain as President Cyril Ramaphosa made it clear that the ANC will ensure their members are not involved in any corrupt activities.
