COPE President Mosiuoa Lekota says should his party be voted into government, it will fight corruption and ensure clean governance. He was speaking at the launch of the party’s 2019 election manifesto at Orient Theatre in East London in the Eastern Cape.

The manifesto focuses on land, growing the economy and creating jobs.

African National Congress members formed COPE in 2008. The party currently has three seats in the National Assembly and one seat in the Eastern Cape legislature.

COPE is also represented in some municipalities in the country.

“We are not happy. We are completely unhappy that today you vote for a political party, for a group of men and women, whether they are honest or not. You don’t decide who must be a your president, whether they steal money or not. You are helpless because you can’t remove them. You can’t stop them and they become a gang that abuses you and your money and all of that,” explains Lekota.
