Agang SA leader, Andries Tlouamma, says communities living closer to the mines must benefit from the profits mining companies are making.

He says the mines must be compelled to develop those areas.

Tlouamma was campaigning for his party in Jericho near Brits in the North West.

“The communities that are closer to those mines must benefit. When we talk about benefit, we mean the majority of the people in that community, must be employed in those mines. And the second issue, the youth must be prioritised. The mines must sign a memorandum of understanding, that all the roads, all the infrastructure of that area – they must contribute 60% in maintaining it, in establishing it,” says  Tlouamma.
