Colourful playground for Tygerberg Hospital Children’s School

The Tygerberg Hospital Children’s School in Parow, a northern suburb of Cape Town, says children at the school can now play in a safer and more colourful environment, due to the new upgraded children’s play area which it received from the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.

The handover of the new playground was an early Christmas gift from the Foundation to the school.

Upgrades to the play area started in 2016.

School Principal, Susan Potgieter, who is retiring in December, says the new playground is a dream come true.

“You know, when I started here more than 8 years ago, the one thing that caught my attention was that it was dull, no colour and just pale and I’m a colourful person. I feel that if there is colour then there is joy. There were just swings here, but there wasn’t any joy. It wasn’t a nice playful area, and that was my dream for 8 years.”
