Coligny judgement still underway

Judgment in the Phillip Schutte and Pieter Doorewaard case is still underway in the North West High Court in Mahikeng. SABC News earlier incorrectly reported that Schutte and Doorewaard were found guilty of culpable homicide in the North West High Court in Mahikeng, following the death of 15-year-old Mathlomola Mosweu in Coligny on 20 April last year.

The duo maintained their innocence, saying the teenager had jumped off their bakkie on their way to the police station, after apprehending him for having allegedly stolen sunflowers.

Consequently dubbed the sunflower case, the trial commenced in March this year.
