Chippa United will be in action on Saturday afternoon, when they meet ABC Motsepe League side, Phiva, in a Nedbank Cup first round match in Mbombela.

The competition has already produced an upset when the PSL team, Polokwane City were knocked out by the National First Division side, Ubuntu Cape Town FC on Wednesday.

Chippa United Coach Teboho Moloi is not taking Phiva lightly.

He has recalled his days as Orlando Pirates’ assistant coach when Maluti FET College trounced them in 2013.

“You can have an idea about these ABC league teams, but if you are not prepared they will shock you. This is a cup of surprises where you can find smaller teams … they come up guns blazing because they have nothing to lose.  They will come at us. I have an experience of being knocked out previously by teams that are playing in the lower division.”
