The Chief of traffic police at the Dr JS Moroka municipality in Mpumalanga has alleged he was a victim of a racial attack at the Kolonnade Mall, north of Pretoria, on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Maseko says he was called the K-word by a white man and was assaulted when he retaliated. He says this happened in full view of security guards as he was exiting the mall.

Police in Sinoville have confirmed they are investigating a case of Assault with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).

Last year, five white men were arrested for allegedly assaulting a black couple at a KFC outlet in the same mall.

Maseko says, “I was attacked by a white male at Kolonnande Entrance 2 without no apparent reason. He just charged at me and started assaulting me. Then when I retaliated, another white guy came and grabbed me. I was exiting from the parking lot, he just charged at me and swearing at me and started fighting me. I didn’t do or say anything to him.”
