Case of dad who shot son postponed to December

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The case involving Sibusiso Tshabalala, who shot and killed his son at Fred Norman Secondary School in Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg has been post poned to next month in the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court.

The postponement is to allow his lawyer and the state more time to finalise their discussions over a possible plea bargain.

Tshabalala currently faces a murder charge but is willing to plead guilty to a charge of culpable homicide if the state agrees.

Tshabalala says he thought he was being hijacked when he fatally shot his teenage son Luyanda in June.

His son had knocked on the car window on his return from an evening class in June.

Magistrate Maggie van der Merwe set the date for the next appearance to 11 December 2018.
