Around the world there will be a focus on the cultures of First Nations people as 2019 marks International Year of Indigenous Languages.
In Cape Town there will be two major events that aim to put the spotlight on the Khoi and San nations of South Africa.
The first is scheduled for the end of January and is the premiere of the landmark film Rooibos Restitution, that tells the story of the historic victory of the Khoi and San people for recognition of their Traditional Knowledge with regard to Rooibos.
Then a week later there will be the premiere of a musical theatre play entitled Krotoa Eva van de Kaap, the story of a young Khoi woman who grew up in the household of Jan van Riebeeck and puts her firmly in charge of her own narrative.
