A 32-year-old taxi driver has been arrested for speeding, after he was caught driving at an average speed of 149 km/h in a 100-zone, between Beaufort-West and Cape Town.
Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says there were no passengers inside the taxi.
He says the driver is being held at Beaufort-West police station.
“The taxi driver was arrested. Charges against him are reckless and negligent driving as well as doing excessively high speeds, 149 km/h in a 100 zone.”
