Buthelezi lashes out against entertainment at govt events

IFP president Inkosi Buthelezi has called for a relook at crucial government events that are sometimes overshadowed by entertainment acts. He was speaking at a roadshow event organised by the Zululand District Municipality at Goje in uLundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

He says reporting back to the communities must be prioritised and entertainment should be an extra benefit.

Buthelezi says such platforms should firstly be seen as opportunity to provide updates on the Integrated Development Plan, Local Economic Development and disaster events.

“It’s an opportunity to listen to ideas for solutions. We should not be confused by the fact that there’s entertainment; that these occasions are predominantly organised to entertain us. No! That is just a cherry on top. There is a need for engagement where people are free to put questions to their leaders, to us in municipalities at these meetings, where we are being updated on IDP, LED and disaster management.”
