Employers whose workers are involved in the bus strike have offered a revised offer to the unions in the hope of ending the crippling strike. The unions are, however, are refusing to divulge details of the new offer until it’s presented to the workers.

The bus companies and the workers’ unions met in Johannesburg  in a desperate attempt to find end to the four-week long strike.

Before Thursday’s meeting, the employers were offering 8.75% salary increase for the first year, and 8.25% for the following year.

The unions were demanding 9% for this year and 8% for next year.

“Today’s meeting between the unions and employers produced an offer. The offer will be reported back to workers before its communicated to the public. We will, however, hold a press conference tomorrow at 3pm to let the public know,” said Satawu’s spokesperson Zanele Sabela.
